Many tourists holidaying in Paris choose to visit the Louvre Museum and Eiffel Tower on the same day.

As for which attraction they visit first, well, it depends.

Because of all the required walking, some tourists prefer to visit the Louvre when they are most energetic.

Many others prefer to explore the Eiffel Tower first because it takes less time and then visit the Louvre Museum after dark to explore the galleries at their own pace.

Tourists who are in a hurry are known to finish exploring the Louvre in two hours.

If you have already bought your Louvre Museum tickets in advance, you need at least three hours for a good tour of the world’s best masterpieces.

If you decide to buy your tickets at the Museum, you will need an hour to two hours, depending on the season, because of the long ticket counter queues.

Once you have explored the Louvre galleries, you will need at least half an hour to reach the Eiffel Tower.

This time will vary depending on your choice of transport.

If you have already bought your Eiffel Tower tickets, you can head straight to the elevators to take you up. Otherwise, you may spend a lot of time in the ticket counter lines, which is unnecessary.

From Louvre Museum to Eiffel Tower

You have four options to get to the Eiffel Tower from the Louvre Museum: the metro, the bus, the taxi, and a nice leisurely walk.

To Eiffel Tower by Metro

Paris has an evolved Metro service, and almost every place has a metro station within 500 meters (1/3 of a mile).

To get to the Eiffel Tower by Metro, you must board Line 1 train from Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre station and first reach Franklin D. Roosevelt station.

From Franklin D. Roosevelt, you must board a Line 9 train to Alma-Marceau Station, from where the Eiffel Tower is approximately 15 minutes by walk.

Because of the change in trains, we don’t recommend you take a metro.

Louvre to Eiffel Tower by taxi

If you are short on time and money isn’t an issue, we recommend taking a taxi.

It is the fastest way to go from the Louvre Museum to the Eiffel Tower.

It isn’t easy to hail a taxi in Paris, but you can look for a nearby taxi stand. Paris has approximately 750 taxi stands, so one is always nearby.

Taxi companies such as Centrale Taxi ParisLes Taxis G7, etc., offer online booking.

Taxi fare - Louvre to Eiffel Tower

However, we recommend Uber. Compared to the local Parisian taxis, most tourists find Uber drivers more polite, on time, and more reliable.

For approximately €13, an Uber can drop you at the Eiffel Tower.

Bus to Eiffel Tower

Both locals and tourists highly recommend bus No. 72 to get to the Eiffel Tower.

This bus runs along the river Seine, and you get to see its numerous bridges and the city’s monuments along the route.

It is best to board the bus at the Palais Royal Musée du Louvre bus stop, and after nine stops, get down at Pont d’Iena.

From the Pont d’Iena stop, the Eiffel Tower is an 11-minute walk across the river Seine.

Check out RATP, the state-owned public transport operator, for the latest bus routes and timings.

Walking to Eiffel Tower

If you have lots of time on hand, the weather is good, and you are healthy, walking to the Eiffel Tower isn’t a bad idea.

But remember, you may have just walked a lot exploring the various galleries of The Louvre.
