The Museum is named after Cosme Damião, the founding father of the Museum and one of the renowned figures in the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

It features various themes from the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, the city of Lisbon, and the world. 

At Benfica Museu, you will discover the trophies, facts, and names that made this Club a bastion of world sport.

The Museum is spread across four thousand square meters with three floors organized into 29 thematic areas.

To promote learning and interactivity among the visitors, the Museum offers-

– Audiovisual touchscreens
– A hologram of Eusébio
– An area displaying photos of Benfica supporters
– An elevator surrounded by video walls showing messages and images of benfiquistas  
– A geodesic dome where a short film about the Club’s history is displayed

Note: The Portuguese Association of Museology awarded the Museu Benfica the title of Best Portuguese Museum of 2014. 

Luz Stadium

Opening hours

The Luz Stadium and the Benfica Museum tours run daily from 10 am to 5 pm. 

On match days, the Luz Stadium remains closed, while the Benfica Museum’s hours of operations are subject to change.

How long does it take

The Luz Stadium and the Benfica Museum tour lasts two hours, with more than an hour spent at the Museum. 

In the two hours, you’ll learn key things about football and its players at the stadium and Museum. 

At the Museum, you will relive the history of SL Benfica’s legendary players and at the stadium, you will relive the moments when SL Benfica Football Club created history.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Luz Stadium & Benfica Museum is on non-match days. 

On match days, visitors can only see the Museum but don’t get access to the Luz Stadium. 

However, on non-game days, you can enjoy the tour without interruptions and explore every nook and cranny of the stadium.

The Luz Stadium and the Benfica Museum tour tickets are available offline and online. 

Tourists can buy their tickets at gate 17 of the stadium, in front of Eusébio’s Statue.

However, when you buy tickets online, you don’t waste your time standing in the queue. 

Since the stadium tours are unavailable on match days, buying tickets online helps you avoid last-minute disappointment.

Colégio Militar/Luz is the nearest subway station to the Luz stadium and Benfica Musum. 

A mere 11 minutes walk will take you to the stadium.

By Bus

Take bus 750 to Estádio Da Luz bus stop, from where the Museum or stadium is within 6 minutes walking distance. 

Car parking

If you’re traveling in your car, turn on your google maps and get started. 

The Luz Stadium and the Benfica Museum have many car parking lots in the surrounding areas.

You can park your car at Estacionamento, Parques de estacionamento Benfica Estádio, or Colégio Militar.
