Why do height requirements exist?

Range of height requirements
Legoland Florida Resort’s minimum height requirements range from 30 inches (76 cms) to 48 inches (122 cms).
For most of the rides, kids lesser than 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion age 14 years or older.
The companion must be seated next to the younger kids.
The average height of a three-year-old American child is around 37 inches for girls and 37.5 for boys, which means most three-year-olds will qualify for some of the rides at Legoland.
On average nine-year-old kids in the US are 50 inches (127 cms) tall, making them tall enough to go on all rides.
