The exhibition concludes with documentation of the Holocaust in the darkness of the bunker.

The permanent exhibition named “Idyll and Crime” enhances your understanding of the National Socialist Era and the Nazi dictatorship.

Where to book tickets

Tickets for the Documentation Center Obersalzberg can be purchased online or in person at the attraction. 

Online ticket prices tend to be cheaper than tickets at the attraction. 

When you buy online, you can avoid the long queues at the ticket counters.

Because some attractions sell a limited number of tickets, they may sell out during peak days. Booking early helps avoid last-minute disappointments.

How do online tickets work

Visit the Obersalzberg Center ticket booking page, select your preferred date and number of tickets, and buy the tickets right away.

After making the purchase, you will receive the tickets in your email. 

Ticket printouts are not required.

You can show the e-ticket on your smartphone at the entrance and have it scanned.

Obersalzberg Documentation Center ticket price

Obersalzberg Documentation Center ticket costs €65 for all visitors aged 27 and above.

Tickets are available at a discounted price of €55 for young visitors and students aged 15 to 26.

Child tickets from ages four to 14 can be purchased with an adult or student ticket at a reduced rate of €36.

Infants aged four and below can enter for free. An adult must accompany them. However, separate seats are not provided for them.

This ticket allows visitors to embark on a 10-hour round trip from Munich to Berchtesgadener land in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus. 

Visitors can explore the Obersalzberg Documentation Center, Eagle’s Nest, and Berchtesgaden and enjoy live commentary in both English and German.

Seating is also available within the exhibition premises. Portable chairs can be rented from the ticket office.

The admission fee to the Documentation Center is not included in this ticket.

Please note that meals are not included in this ticket.

Berchtesgaden Foothills and Obersalzberg

This ticket lets visitors appreciate Germany’s natural beauty while journeying in a luxury tour bus through the Deutsche Alpenstrasse, or German Alpine Way, towards the beautiful foothills of Berchtesgaden. 

Enjoy the phenomenal views of Obersalzberg and visit the famous Kehlsteinhaus or Eagle’s Nest, Hitler’s holiday retreat. 

The tour is operational on Mondays and Fridays from May to October.

Note: During very bad weather conditions, such as snow, ice, or fog, the Eagle’s Nest will be closed. In such instances, the itinerary will be adjusted to include a visit to the salt mines of Berchtesgaden instead.

How to reach Obersalzberg Documentation Center

The Obersalzberg Center is near Berchtesgaden in Germany.

Address: Salzbergstraße 41, 83471 Berchtesgaden, Germany. Get Directions.

You can reach the museum via public or private transportation.

By Bus

Take the line 838 bus that operates from Schießstättbrücke to Dokumentation Obersalzberg. 

A 5-minute walk from the bus stop will lead you to the attraction.

By Train

If you travel from Munich, you can take train line RE5 from Ostbahnhof and get down at Freilassing, Salzburg. 

From Freilassing, transfer to the train that goes towards Berchtesgaden HBF.

Get down at Berchtesgaden Hbf and board the bus line 838 to reach the Dokumentation Obersalzberg bus stop, a 3-minute walk from the museum.

By Car

If you are traveling by car, turn on your Google Maps and get started.

There are enough parking garages around the attraction.

Opening hours of Obersalzberg Documentation Center

The Documentation Center in Obersalzberg is open from 9 am to 5 pm from April to October. 

The museum is open from 10 am from November to March but closes early at 3 pm. 

It remains closed on Mondays.

The last entry is an hour before closing time.

The Obersalzberg Center remains closed on 1 November, 24, 25, 31 December, and 1 January.
