What to expect

Museo Correr reflects Venice’s culture, history, and art dating back to its foundation, and then to its union with Italy in the late 19th century.

The attraction was closed for almost a century but is now open to the public.

Visitors get to marvel at the Correr’s twenty luxurious rooms that once served as the private residences of Venice’s ruling dynasties.

This includes the Audience Hall, where Empress Elisabeth of Austria held court during her stay in Venice.

The red and cream upholstery has been meticulously reconstructed, and so too the original 18th-century armchairs, and a captivating portrait of the Empress by Anton Einsle.

King Umberto I’s enchanting Moorish Hall is equally famous; It is filled with Islamic-inspired décor commemorating his adventurous travels to Turkey and Egypt.

Another special room is the Chamber of King Victor Emmanuel II. It is renowned for being where the union of Venice and Veneto with the Kingdom of Italy was celebrated.

Worth the visit!

Worth a visit for sure! Our two boys, aged eight and 10 years, enjoyed some parts more than others. Different artifacts, such as a mummy, coins, weaponry, ancient sculptures, etc., are on display to keep both adults and children interested. There is a lovely gift shop at the end. Overall, it is a beautiful building.

Wonderful Museum

My wife and I visit this wonderful museum from time to time during our regular visits to Venice. The museum is well-arranged, and the exhibits are imaginatively presented. With each visit, there is always something new to discover. It’s well worth a visit.
